History

The Haitian Catholic Community was formed on October 18, 1976, in Philadelphia. From a small prayer group through holding one mass per month in their traditional language, Haitian Creole, with the support of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, this community after 41 years of existence became a sizeable group with two branches: one in Philadelphia commonly referred to as the North group and the other in East Lansdowne commonly referred to as the West group. These two groups totaled approximately 450 people in 2017 of which 360 active members, who have registered in our database and who have received their First Communion. The database of the church continues to grow as more and more Haitians register as members of the community.
